Congratulations to George Clooney! The actor proposed to his girlfriend, Lebanese-British barrister Amal Alamuddin, last week. People magazine has an exclusive photo of the 7-carat emerald-cut engagement ring, accented with tapered baguettes and set in platinum. Clooney, 52, helped design the ring – which features ethically-sourced stones.
An absolutely stunning style, the ring has both vintage and contemporary elements. Emerald-cut diamonds are prized for their flattering, elongated shape – while baguette side diamonds draw focus to their geometric brilliance. Other notable emerald-cut engagement rings are worn by Beyoncé, Angelina Jolie and Kate Hudson.
Clooney has one previous marriage; to actress Talia Balsam. Balsam is currently married to Mad Men star, John Slattery, and portrays his character’s ex-wife on the hit show.
What do you think of the engagement ring George gave to Amal? Are emerald-cut diamonds your favorite shape? Let us know in the comments!
