Kristen Wiig has kind of broken our hearts. She recently revealed, in an interview with Harpers Bazaar, that she has said no to a Bridesmaids sequel. Fortunately, there’s more than enough Wiig to go around at the moment. With new releases Despicable Me 2 and Girl Most Likely, she’s recently been up and down many red carpets. Here we take a look at the evolution of her fuss-free, pared down style.
For the premiere of Despicable Me 2, Kristen opted for a classic black and white ensemble. A Calvin Klein blouse paired with Alexander Wang shorts made for understated chic, while single sole Manolo Blahniks brought a pop of color.
Similarly, this Prabal Gurung dress mixed a neutral palette with intriguing details. The ruching and asymmetric skirt gave the look an avant-garde twist, while an art deco clutch from Giuseppe Zanotti and Canturi ring were luxurious touches. The Pierre Hardy shoes may have been better in a bolder gold, however.
Paler Jimmy Choo platforms didn’t steal focus from this gorgeous emerald green dress by Calvin Klein. We loved the subtle slit in the skirt, while delicate bronze shadow and pink lips complemented Kristen’s natural coloring. Stacked bracelets and rings from Roseark, Trunfio, and Finn completed the look.
A Stella McCartney lace jumpsuit might be too ‘out there’ for some. Wiig kept it simple with barely-there makeup, black T-bar pumps, a plain bangle and ring.
This had a touch of ‘bohemian bride’ about it. For the 2012 Emmy Awards, Kristen was ethereal in Balenciaga, with another pair of neutral Jimmy Choos – and delicate gold jewelry from Fred Leighton.
Kristen’s style isn’t always perfect, but it’s one of the many things that keeps her interesting. A vintage-style floral dress paired with an arrowhead pendant was granny-chic for a promo appearance. And let’s face it, she was way better dressed than Ben Stiller.
One of our favorite Kristen moments; presenting at this year’s Golden Globes with the equally hilarious Will Ferrell. While she had us in stitches, we still had time to appreciate how wonderful she looked in this Michael Kors dress. These stylish stacked bracelets and rings she wears are fast becoming a serious source of inspiration for us.
The simplest pieces are often the most stunning. A white Saint Laurent shift was flawless – especially with that matching manicure. Roseark earrings added to the contemporary feel, while an undyed Clare Vivier clutch brought a rustic luxe.
