I know it is cliche to say but Eric is no doubt my best friend, and knows me better than anyone. We can be our true selves around each other whether it’s being goofy or having deep conversations that we would not be able to have with anyone else. I have always known that Eric was my soul mate and he knew the same, they only problem we had was distance. Eric and I both have known each other for years and had always wanted to be together but distance stood in the way. I was from and living in Louisiana, and he was my southern prince charming living 10 hours away in South Carolina. My junior year of college I decided to transfer to a university in Tampa, and Eric had decided that he was going to pursue a career with the company he had worked for all through college.
School didn’t go as I planned in Florida, so I was pretty much forced to move back home to finish school there. It was a heartbreaking move and neither one of us wanted to leave each other. Two years of being by each other’s side and getting to spend every day together was hard to just move on from. We both knew that we would make it work long distance, as much as we wanted to be together. Everyone always says that “long distance never works” but if you have the love, commitment, and perseverance, then anyone can make it work. We would take turns flying down to each other for a week or a little less for every month. It was the most exciting and best thing picking each other up from the airport or waiting for the other to drive in. When dating for almost three years and still getting butterflies, that definitely says something.
We had never spent Christmas together since we both usually flew home to our families. This year I knew Eric was coming to visit and stay for the holidays and I was ecstatic! I was way more into the Christmas spirit than I usually was and was so excited for him to get to spend Christmas with me and my family. My family was also very excited for him to experience our Christmas traditions with us as well. About a week before Eric got there, he told me that we should not buy each other presents this year but instead take a mini-vacation and stay on the beach in Florida. Since we both love the beach and love Florida’s coast, I agreed that it would be the best present ever. We both needed some time away and a little relaxation with each other. So being a girl, I will admit that the thought of “hmm, I wonder if he is going to propose?” did enter my mind a couple of times. I mean it was the perfect time, right?
When we first got to our condo we relaxed a little and took in the views and then we both agreed we should take a walk on the beach. We were walking on the beach dressed to go to dinner after, hand in hand. It was the most beautiful view and the most perfect time ever. We were both discussing our future (we always do, so it did not seem out of place at the time) and we were both proclaiming how much we loved the other. All of a sudden, Eric gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him. At first I thought it was a joke! I kept saying “no way”, but then I looked down to his hand and saw him holding the most gorgeous ring and at that point I knew it was real!
I said “Yes”!!! We were both so happy, and I still keep replaying that moment in my head over and over again! It was absolutely perfect.
Now the ring…The engagement ring is stunning. He did the absolute best job and picked out the most perfect ring ever for me. Eric said that he went with Ritani because they had the highest ratings and heard nothing but great things. He also said that it was the only place that had the unique look and style that we were both looking for. Eric got the ring delivered to a local jeweler to view it before he purchased it. He knew it was the one and I think fell in love with just as much as I have! I seriously get stopped every single day (sometimes multiple times a day) with people commenting on my ring. It makes me so happy and puts the biggest smile on my face! The most common thing that I have heard so far is people saying “wow, I’ve never seen a ring that sparkles that much!”. It’s so great to hear!
Thank you Eric for being my dream come true and thank you Ritani for helping with that dream!
