Our engagement was an absolute fairy tale.
My fiancé and I had known one another throughout college. I had moved to his hometown following graduation to attend graduate school in a nearby town. The following year he was offered the remarkable opportunity to attend University of Cambridge in England for his Master’s degree. So in September, we began our long distance relationship journey…
Sean has always been great at planning trips so as a treat to ourselves we decided that we would partake on an amazing European adventure when I went to visit him during the holidays. Sean took it upon himself to plan every detail of the trip and of course, it was nothing short of amazing. We traveled around Europe for two and half weeks to the amazing cities of London, Prague, Vienna, Venice, Florence, Pisa, and last but certainly not least, Paris.
The entire trip was a whirlwind. We were overjoyed to be reunited after three months of being separated and made sure to enjoy every single moment. We dined in the most amazing restaurants and enjoyed all that the various cultures offered.
The last stop on our trip was to Paris, France. We arrived on New Year’s Eve and Sean had told me about the fabulous night ahead. Of course, I was extremely excited but had no idea what was coming.
We went to this elegant French restaurant and had some of the most amazing food we had had throughout the entire trip. We sipped on champagne and just enjoyed each other’s company. By the time dessert had rolled around, I was completely stuffed. Sean insisted that I continue because there was chocolate in the middle. Knowing that I can’t leave chocolate to be wasted, I started to dig into the middle of the cake. Instead of finding chocolate, I found red writing at the bottom of my plate. It said “Paige will you marry me? If yes, close your eyes”.
I became entirely overwhelmed but decided to follow the plate’s instructions. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them Sean was on one knee and a photographer had entered the restaurant to capture the entire magical moment. I was in complete shock and could not believe what was happening. I managed to get myself together enough to say “YES!” I was blown away by my absolutely gorgeous engagement ring; it was everything I could have dreamed of!
