5 Best Places to Propose in San Francisco

2015 is off to an exciting start. Seeing as engagement season is not technically over until Valentine’s Day, I’m sure plenty of couples have made New Year’s resolutions to put a diamond ring on it this year.

While there may not be any rules about when exactly you should propose or what you should say when you do, the location of a proposal is extremely important. Some engagements happen in a place that is especially significant to the couple, and some proposal locations are not planned at all, but one thing is for certain: the vast majority of proposals happen in places that are picturesque.

If you live in San Francisco or if you are preparing a destination proposal there, the hard part will not be picking a place that is scenic enough. On the other hand, the difficulty will be in choosing from all of the gorgeous potential proposal locations in the area. Read on for our recommendations for the best places to propose in San Francisco.

With stunning views at every turn, the Lands End Trail is the perfect place for an active couple to get engaged in San Francisco. Even if you aren’t an avid hiker, Lands End is not a challenging hike and can be completed easily at a leisurely pace. This 3.4-mile trail provides striking vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge, old shipwrecks, and the scenic Sutro Baths ruins. You can also explore a WWII memorial, a hidden labyrinth, or any number of wilderness areas along the trail.

With such a diverse set of scenic overlooks and trail activities, Lands End is full of potential engagement spots. On cloudy or foggy days, it can be difficult to see all of the sights that Lands End has to offer, especially the Golden Gate Bridge. If you want your proposal to feature the full landscape of Lands End Trail, choose a clear day, a sunset proposal, or at least wait until the morning fog burns off.
