Today we are starting a new blog series called ‘Why I work at Ritani’. With teams in New York and Seattle, we aim to highlight the passionate and talented people who are improving the ways customers shop for luxury jewelry and engagement rings.
In the first installment of the series, we’d like to introduce Alexander Musgrave, who works at our Downtown Seattle location.
Tell us a little about your role at Ritani.
What do you love most about working for Ritani?
What I love most about Ritani are the small teams – they allow us to move at an incredible pace. With agile development, things move really fast, but the size of the teams allow for great communication and an excellent learning environment. Also, I’m pretty excited about everyone I work with. Everyone here is genuinely a good person who has interests beyond themselves.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I’m a little bit of an outdoors junkie and spend a lot of my time rock climbing, mountaineering, hiking, snowboarding, etc. My Mondays are often difficult – not because I’m hungover – but because I’m physically annihilated from a 16 hour climb over the weekend. I’m also an avid meditator, and study and teach metaphysics from an ancient lineage.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the UI/UX industry?
Dedicate some of your off time to expanding your skills and learning new things. Online courses and tutorials can help you get ahead pretty quick. However, the best advice I could give is to simply embrace your job, and give it all of your presence and attention. Your time spent working on-site with a team is invaluable and the experience cannot be gained any other way.
