While the trend of men wearing engagement rings hasn’t quite cracked the mainstream yet, there are an increasing number of famous men opting to wear a band, pre-marriage. Here are just a few celebrity men’s engagement rings we’ve noticed.
Ryan Reynolds’ engagement ring
Ryan Reynolds wore two yellow gold bands when he was married to Scarlett Johansson, from 2008 to 2011. While we don’t know if Ryan wore one of the bands before they tied the knot, paired together on the finger like this seems to imply that one is an engagement ring, and the other is a wedding ring.
Michael Bublé’s engagement ring
After getting engaged to actress Luisiana Lopilato in November 2009, Michael Bublé was seen wearing a platinum band on his ring finger. He told an audience at one of his concerts, “The boy also wears the engagement ring. That’s what she tells me anyway.” Lopilato is from Argentina, where it is a tradition for both men and women to wear engagement rings.
Johnny Depp’s engagement ring
When Johnny Depp proposed to his The Rum Diaries co-star, Amber Heard, the ring he’d chosen was too large. Rather than get it resized, they opted to buy another ring for Amber to wear. Johnny has since been wearing the original diamond ring, making this a sparkling choice for a celebrity already known for his love of jewelry.
David Otunga’s engagement ring
Professional wrestler David Otunga proposed to Jennifer Hudson on her birthday, with a stunning five-carat diamond and platinum engagement ring set in a double halo. On Otunga’s birthday, 7 months later, Hudson proposed right back with a five-carat ring for him! Set with square-cut diamonds in columns around the band, and round brilliant stones along the top and bottom, it’s a masculine design studded with dazzling bling.
Osi Umenyiora’s engagement ring
The Atlanta Falcons’ player married Leila Lopes – Miss Universe 2011 – in February, 2013. After getting engaged, they both wore ‘his and hers’ diamond rings, with Lopes remarking on her Instagram account, “Yes I put a ring on him too.”
