A Look at Avril Lavigne's Heart-Shaped Engagement Ring

Celebrities love heart-shaped engagement rings, and Avril Lavigne is no different. The singer announced her engagement to Mod Sun yesterday on Instagram after one year of dating, sharing that he popped the question on March 27th in Paris. So romantic!

The flawless heart-shaped diamond appears to be about 5 carats, set on a dainty pavé diamond band. Mod Sun added an extra-sentimental touch to the ring, by engraving "Hi Icon" on the inside of the band, which Avril told People was the first thing he ever said to her. He also had "Mod + Avril" engraved. Avril also shared that she had always wanted a heart-shaped diamond ring since the two were both wearing matching heart-shaped rings when they met.

Mod Sun likely spent anywhere from $300,000 to $600,000. Heart-shaped diamonds of this size and clarity grade can be very hard to find!

This will be Lavigne's third marriage. She was previously married to Deryck Whibley in 2006, who reportedly gifted her with a 4-carat solitaire engagement ring. She later married Chad Kroeger, lead singer of Nickelback, who popped the question with a massive 14-carat pear-shaped engagement ring, which featured two half-moon side stones. For their 1-year anniversary, Kroeger gave Lavigne an even larger 17-carat emerald-cut diamond ring.

Other celebrities who have sported heart-shaped engagement rings include Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj.
