8 Best Places to Propose in Dallas

Dallas skyline

Whether you love the great outdoors or fine dining, Dallas is full of ways to create the perfect proposal. The Big D is known for its stunning skyline, friendly locals, and an awesome variety of cuisine to choose from. It is also a place where engagement rings have diamonds the size of hailstones — about as big as the real hail that falls from the skies in May (no pressure). If you’re thinking about proposing in Dallas, here are some of our favorite ideas, from the haute cuisine at Hotel St. Germain to a stunning stroll through bluebonnet fields.

Reunion Tower

Create a night to remember at the most romantic location in the city! One of the most recognizable landmarks in Dallas, Texas, the Reunion Tower offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views from a 470-foot observation deck. The Reunion Tower hosts at least one proposal a day, so this is no doubt a popular spot for asking your sweetheart to marry you. Five Sixty, Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant at the top of the tower, is the perfect meal to accompany your proposal.

Dallas Cowboys Stadium

Texas LOVES their football–according to a recent study WalletHub, Dallas is the best city in Texas for football and the fourth-best city in the United States. If your bride-to-be is a diehard Cowboys fan, then a football proposal would be perfect for her. Propose while tailgating with your friends and family, or arrange a private tour of the stadium. Planning to propose during the game is a controversial move, but we’re a fan of any display of romance, even if the Cowboys lose.

Spring Bluebonnet Blooms

Every spring in Texas, bluebonnet fields explode with colorful blooms in shades of blue and white. For a picturesque spring proposal, plan a daytime outing to “see the bluebonnets” and turn it into the proposal of her floral dreams. Be sure to bring a selfie stick or a tripod to capture the moment and the beauty of the flowers.

White Rock Lake Park

Sunset over a lake

Some in Dallas say that White Rock Lake Park has gone to the dogs, and it would certainly be a perfect proposal location for a canine-loving couple. However, the north shore off-leash park is only a small fraction of the entire parkland. Cyclists and runners make frequent use of the 9-mile asphalt loop around the lake, especially during clear summer mornings and evenings. Because this recreation space is the most popular park in Dallas, anticipate weekend crowds. Keep in mind, though, that there are over a thousand acres to explore. If you are willing to walk for a bit, you’ll always find space for a blanket, picnic basket, and your unique engagement ring.

Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

Botanical Garden

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden are one of the best-loved public gardens in Texas, with White Rock Lake as its most popular proposal spot. A local favorite, this park regularly hosts concerts and bustling special events so make sure to plan your schedule accordingly if you want privacy. There are 19 themed gardens on the grounds, so the odds of finding a place for an intimate and uninterrupted moment are always in your favor. The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden feature an 8-acre garden boasting everything from cascading waterfalls and a treetop canopy walk.

Lake Cliff Park at Sunset

Lake

A recent poll of USA Today readers ranked the Dallas skyline as the most scenic in the world. While there are plenty of places to propose in Dallas with a view of the city in the evening, perspectives found along the shoreline of Lake Cliff Park remain overlooked. This park is especially radiant in late spring when the roses are in bloom and the foliage fills out. You can find stunning views throughout the seasons, but if you are considering a proposal here beyond spring, scout it out first. Some spaces in this charming neighborhood park fade to brown later in the summer heat.

Hotel St. Germain Restaurant

Hotel

European elegance shines brightly at the Hotel St. Germain, on the corner of Maple and Mahon. If you’re seeking an intimate, old-world setting with French fine dining and white-glove service at candlelit tables, this American Queen-Anne manor will not disappoint. The St. Germain offers seven luxury suites furnished with romantic turn-of-the-century antiques collected from France and New Orleans.

As with many successful high-end bed and breakfast establishments, the Hotel St. Germain has more guest prerequisites than those associated with large hotel chains. Advance reservations are required, through phone or e-mail. Aside from holidays, the dining room is open Friday and Saturday evenings and the fare includes a menu with six or seven courses. Jacket and tie are also required. If you are planning on staying the night, check the website for gifts and suite services, including desserts, robes, bubble baths, and a romantic rose petal turndown service. There is even an option for a dessert proposal message, just in case you are too nervous to ask your partner during dinner.

A Gondola Cruise

Gondola

You don’t have to fly to Venice for a romantic and memorable gondola proposal. Authentic gondoliers proficient in everything engagement are as close as Irving. Gondola Adventures offers private cruises through the narrow, scenic Mandalay Canals. Gondola Adventures partners with local caterers to provide customers with a wide range of cuisine, from simple funnel fries to indulgent haute cuisine. There are also uncomplicated classic packages that feature gourmet chocolates, sparkling cider, or hot chocolate. Alcoholic beverages like wine and champagne are available, but Texas liquor laws require purchases from either the nearby Omni Mandalay Hotel or the Cellar Restaurant. If you’re looking for a traditional gondola experience, request a singing gondolier, or you can select recorded romantic music. Gondola Adventures also offers covered gondolas, which are usually more comfortable beneath the hot sun.

Still hunting for the perfect ring to accompany your Dallas proposal? In Dallas, engagement rings featuring a diamond or gemstone halo have been on-trend recently. Halo engagement rings are named for the dazzling border of small diamonds or gemstones that surround the ring’s center stone, adding vintage elegance and more sparkle. It comes as no surprise to us that Texans love to pack in some extra brilliance on their engagement rings.
