J Lo is no stranger to lavish engagement rings - in fact, she's now had 6 of them. This time, she's engaged to actor Ben Affleck (again) with a green diamond engagement ring. She received her first engagement ring from Affleck in 2002: a breathtaking 6-carat cushion-cut pink diamond engagement ring with baguette-cut side stones. The two called off the wedding but began dating again in 2021.

Lopez revealed her latest bauble to her fans via newsletter on April 8th. The three-stone engagement ring is rumored to have an 8.5-carat green diamond center stone and appears to have two white trillion-cut diamond side stones.

Green diamonds can receive one of the following color grades: Faint Green, Very Light Green, Light Green, Fancy Green, Fancy Intense Green, Fancy Vivid Green, and Fancy Deep Green. Her neon-green diamond may be a Fancy Intense Green or Fancy Vivid Green diamond, which are among the most valuable fancy diamond intensities.

Green diamonds are extremely rare, and it's estimated to have cost between $3 million to $10 million. Her pink diamond ring was estimated to have cost $2.5 million.

Why a green diamond? It's certainly an unusual choice. J Lo has shared in the past that she loves the color green and that green is her "lucky color."

How Much is a Green Diamond Worth?

The value of a green diamond depends on many factors such as its carat weight and color intensity. A green diamond can cost anywhere from $50,000 - $300,00 per carat.

Where Are Green Diamonds Found?

Most natural green diamonds can be found in South America or Africa. In nature, green diamonds are the result of radiation exposure while they are being formed underground. However, any diamond can be treated in a laboratory to change its color. Diamonds can undergo irradiation to turn green. It's not clear whether or not J Lo's green diamond ring is natural or color-treated.

What Do Green Diamonds Symbolize?

Green diamonds symbolize nature, prosperity, life, and harmony, making them a romantic choice for an engagement ring.

Green Diamond Alternatives

If you love the look of a green diamond but don't want to spend millions of dollars, consider emeralds, green sapphire, peridot, or green garnets instead. Green sapphire or emerald will be your best bet for an engagement ring as they are harder than most other gemstones. It's also possible to find green lab-grown diamonds, which will cost far less than a natural green diamond.
