'Real Housewives of New York’ Alum Kelly Bensimon is Engaged – Check out Her Massive Sparkler

As Kelly Bensimon gears up for a tropical adventure on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Season 5 in St. Bart's, another exciting journey awaits her as she prepares to walk down the aisle. Ready to take a second chance at marriage, the former cast member of The Real Housewives of New York City recently announced her engagement to financier Scott Litner, her partner of one year. Although the duo has kept their relationship private, the former model and current real estate broker flaunted her sizable diamond engagement ring while recently attending the New York City premiere of a Bravo reality TV series titled Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake, her first public appearance since getting engaged. Before her current relationship, Bensimon was married from 1997 to 2006 to photographer Gilles Bensimon. The former couple have two daughters together—Sea (25) and Teddy (23).

The Proposal

During the Fourth of July weekend, Scott Litner, a finance executive, coordinated a meaningful proposal that took place at one of Kelly's most beloved summer retreats, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Popping the question during a romantic boat ride, Litner presented Kelly with a custom-made three stone emerald-cut diamond engagement ring. Kelly has expressed her deep appreciation for the location Litner chose, as it holds great sentimental value from her childhood. Following the proposal, the pair celebrated by enjoying a quiet and romantic dinner together in Chicago.

Kelly Bensimon’s custom three-stone engagement ring bears an especially romantic significance. With three-stone engagement rings, which are often referred to as trilogy engagement rings, each stone symbolizes a couple’s past, present, and future together. With this ring setting, the most popular styles typically have two smaller stones flanking a larger center stone. There is great versatility with three-stone engagement rings since virtually any diamond shape can be used. For the side stones, many choose to have a diamond shape that is different from the center stone—such as baguette diamonds or round cut diamonds; however, some select the same diamond shape for all three stones, as is the case with Bensimon’s ring. Kelly Bensimon’s engagement ring features three emerald-cut diamonds—a large center stone with two smaller diamonds on the sides. Experts estimate her ring to be over five carats in total weight, with an estimated value of around $250,000.
