What is a bar setting?

​A bar setting is frequently used to set diamonds in wedding rings, eternity rings, engagement rings, and more. This setting style uses two vertical bars of metal on either side of the diamond to secure it, while also allowing light to enter the stones.  

This setting style is common in three-stone engagement rings, especially when baguette diamonds are used as side stones. It allows more of the diamond to show and sets them in a seamless way that doesn’t detract from their beauty.  

Bar settings are similar to channel settings, which hold diamonds with bars of metal. Channel settings are also quite popular in jewelry pieces, especially wedding bands and engagement rings because they are the most secure way to set a diamond.
