Radiant cut diamonds are typically rectangular in shape, but they can also be square. For a square radiant cut diamond, choose a stone with a length to width ratio of 1.05 or less. For a rectangular radiant cut diamond, choose a stone with a length to width ratio of 1.20-1.35. Choose a length to width ratio that is appealing to you - there is no correct one.

Metal

White Gold is the most popular choice for engagement rings. It is made by mixing gold with other alloys such as nickel, palladium or silver to give it it's white color. It is available in varying proportions of gold which is measured in karats. 18K white gold is composed of 75% gold and 25% alloy, while 14K white gold has only about 58% gold and is therefore cheaper.

Although white gold is called white, it has a slight yellowish or off white color. Therefore it is coated with rhodium which has a reflective bright white color. Additionally, rhodium is much harder than white gold and will therefore make your ring more scratch resistant. If your white gold ring starts looking slightly yellow, it may be a sign that the rhodium plating is wearing off. But fear not, at Ritani we've got you covered. Earth Grown Diamonds

Earth grown diamonds are mined from deep under the earth's surface where they have lain dormant for millions of years. When you hold an earth grown diamond, reflect on the immense journey this diamond has taken and the history it has endured.

A diamond starts out in the lowly form of graphite, such as you might find in the tip of your pencil. Over the course of hundereds of millions of years, the immense pressure and temperature produced deep inside the earth rearrange the carbon atoms into a crystal structure.

Then miners dig deep tunnels under the earth and collect the rough diamonds. The rough diamond looks nothing like the sparkly diamond you are holding. It has an irregular shape, is very dirty and looks dull. The diamond is then cleaned, cut into it's desired shape, and finally polished into the beautiful diamond you are now holding!
